Verified agencies
How agency verification works
The Companies House check, the documents we ask for, and precisely what a verified badge does and does not mean.
The check we run
When an agency signs up it supplies its registered company name and number. We look that up against the public Companies House register and compare the registered name, company status and registered office with what the agency told us.
A company that is dissolved, does not exist, or does not match the details given is not verified.
Supporting evidence
Agencies can upload supporting documents — for example proof of trading address, professional body or redress scheme membership, or client money protection cover. These are stored privately and are reviewed by a member of the MoveLane team, not approved automatically.
Verification status is stored on the agency record and only a MoveLane administrator can set it. An agency cannot mark itself verified.
What the badge means
A verified badge means: this account belongs to a real, active UK-registered company whose identity we have checked against the public register, and a person at MoveLane reviewed the submission.
It is a check on who the account belongs to. It is not a quality rating, an endorsement, a guarantee of any individual listing's accuracy, or confirmation that the agency is regulated.
Evidence you can expect to see
- The verified label on an agency's listings and its profile in Find an agent.
- The registered company name and number shown on the agency profile, which you can search yourself on the Companies House register.
- Unverified agencies show without the badge — the distinction is visible, not implied.
What this does not claim
- We verify company identity only. We do not audit an agency's service quality, fees, client money handling or individual listing accuracy.
- We do not confirm membership of a redress scheme unless the agency has shown it to us; ask the agency directly for its scheme and membership number.
- Listing content, prices and availability are supplied by the agency and are their responsibility.
